Mr. Sam Y. Gibson received his first Bachelor of
Science degree in 1975 from Livingston University, now the University of West Alabama, in Business Administration and the second
degree in 1977 from Auburn University in
Agricultural Economics.
Mr. Gibson has worked in the oil distribution service for
over 30 years. Working for the family business, Gibson Oil Company, Mr. Gibson learned
vitial knowledge in all aspects of running a business.
Mr. Gibson began his career as a business owner in 1985
with a partnership in C.C., Inc. which owned a nine thousand (9,000) square foot grocery
store, Sweetwater, Alabama. Mr. Gibson served as a general manager overseeing all aspects
of operations.
By 1989, Mr. Gibson was an Assistant Manager at Gibson
Oil Company in charge of future delevopments for the company. Mr. Gibson saw how the
industry was changing from garaged based gas stations to more modern convenient stores of
today. He and his business partner in C.C., Inc. sold their grocery store, so Mr. Gibson
could focus on implementing a plan to open convenient stores throughout southwest Alabama.
Through most of the 1990's, Mr. Gibson's attention was
focused implementing a plan for a network of convenient stores and by 1999 he was involved
in successfully opening nine stores in Southwest Alabama. He also at the same time
negotiated a business relationship with Church's Chicken to develop five stores and Hot
Stuff Foods to install pizza delis in the convenient stores.
Today Mr. Gibson is still involved with the strategic
planning and development of the companies future corporate endeavors and the long term
goal of extending the network of convenient stores.
